What Will my kids be learning?

Each week, we’ll watch clips from the movies *Inside Out* and *Inside Out 2* and learn what God says about our feelings, identity, and how to stay connected to Him. Kids will learn that God made all our emotions, that sadness isn’t something to hide, and that we don’t have to let fear or anxiety be in charge. They’ll also learn what it means to have Jesus at the center of who we are — our true “core.” Through Bible stories, fun activities, and powerful truths, kids will grow in understanding how much God loves them and wants to walk with them through every emotion and every season of life.

Week 1: God Made Our Emotions

  • In Inside Out, we meet all of Riley’s emotions — Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust. Kids will learn that every emotion is part of how God made us, and He can use each one for good — even the hard ones.
  • Psalm 139:14: “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”

Week 2: It's Okay to Be Sad

  • Kids will discover that God comforts us when we’re sad and helps us comfort others. Even Jesus cried, and our sadness can lead us to God’s love and care.
  • 2 Corinthians 1:3-4: “God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others.”

Week 3: What's At the Core?

  • Riley’s core memories shape who she is, but our true core isn’t found in feelings or experiences — it’s found in Jesus. Kids will learn that Jesus is the center of our identity and the solid foundation we can always trust.
  • John 15:5: “I am the vine; you are the branches.”

Week 4: Don't Let Anxiety Be in Charge

  • In Inside Out 2, Anxiety tries to take control. Kids will see how the Israelites also struggled with fear and worry, but God was always faithful. We can trust God and give our worries to Him.
  • Philippians 4:6: “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything…”

Week 5: Who Am I Really?

  • Riley wonders who she really is, but learns she’s more than just emotions or performance. Kids will discover that our identity is found in Jesus — not in our mistakes or successes. We are not a soccer player, an artist, the funny kid, the one who always gets good grades, or the one who always struggles. We are a child of God.
  • 2 Corinthians 5:17: “Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”

What's At the movies
all about?

Kids love movies! But there’s so much more we can learn from them—and that’s what New Life Kids At the Movies is all about. We’ll watch scenes from favorite kids movies during church, and Pastor Darci Wilson will use them to teach us more about God, ourselves, and the life that’s possible for us with Jesus. Plus we’ll have candy, popcorn, drinks, and fun activities for the kids each week to learn more about Jesus!

New Life Kids

New Life Kids has a special, age-appropriate At the Movies experience just for kids! Kindergarten-6th graders sing songs, play games, and learn truths from the Bible through their favorite movies.

New Life's At The Movies!

Movies speak to our circumstances and connect us to one another. But there’s so much more we can learn from them—and that’s what At the Movies is all about. We'll watch scenes from powerful movies during church, and Pastor Mike Wilson will use them to teach us more about God, ourselves, and the life that's possible for us. Plus we will be serving up the best snacks, and creating photo ops and other fun for your family!

Invite a friend to
come with you!

At the Movies is even more fun with friends. Invite your friends and family to experience it with you.
