Fitness is all about delayed gratification. We do what we should do today so that life will be better later. If we don’t invest in our social relationships, we’ll suffer the consequences later. If we don’t invest in our spiritual health, we’ll find ourselves falling into depression, meaninglessness, and self-centeredness. If we don’t invest in our financial fitness, well, that’s obvious, we’ll suffer a life of paycheck to paycheck living; or worse. We won’t be able to do what God calls us to do when He calls us to do it because we’ll be slaves to debt. And if we don’t invest in our physical fitness, illness, insecurity, low energy, and even early death are the consequences.
